Beginning in the radio business, in 1982, Travis, knew what it was like to start from the ground up. Being raised in a country-based home, music was always around. Since being raised in a remote country area, early morning rising was quite common, and the portable radio in the kitchen was always tuned in to WSM in Nashville, TN. He knew more words to the songs sung by the old country favorites like Bill Monroe, Charlie Louvin, Roy Acuff, Patsy Cline, Flatt and Scruggs and Hank Snow, than most adults during the same time era. Going into radio was like second nature for him from playing the latest hits, to old-timey country even the latest rock and roll. From working on WEPG beginning the early hours every morning with the Swap and Shop show, selling advertisement on the side and moving on up into the world of behind the stage jobs, Travis has done it all. His earliest claim to fame was the day he met Bill Monroe backstage at the Grand Ole Opry in October 1994. Never missing a beat, his stardom in music was born. Over the years, Travis, has met with many artists in a wide variety of music, from the Grand Ole Opry to Riverbend, even to the well known, Alabama June Jam, none escaped his attendance. In his accolades he has to his credit featured artists such as Loretta Lynn, Charlie Daniels, Brooks and Dunn, Taylor Swift, Randy Travis, Dolly Parton,Vince Gill, Trace Adkins, George Strait, Toby Keith and many, many more!
